The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Perpetual Ref. 140.8.80.S belongs to the first generation of the Master Control collection and is one of the most interesting perpetual calendars produced by the Maison between the 1990s and the early 2000s. Crafted in stainless steel with a 37 mm case, it combines extremely balanced proportions with one of the most prestigious complications in classical watchmaking. The dial displays the perpetual calendar, day, date, month, leap-year indication and moon phases while maintaining excellent legibility. Inside is the prestigious automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 889/440/2.
This Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Perpetual Ref. 140.8.80.S is a beautiful example with a black dial, preserved in excellent overall condition. The dial and hands are correct and very well preserved, as is the original tritium luminous material, consistent with the period of production. The watch and all of its components are in near-new condition, having been worn very little over the years.
The automatic movement is in excellent condition. All perpetual calendar functions are fully operational and the watch is running correctly. The transparent caseback also allows the calibre to be viewed directly, a characteristic feature of this reference.
The watch is completely original and period-correct in all of its main components. It is also accompanied by its original set, including the box, outer box, booklets and warranty certificate bearing the reference 140.8.80.S and the watch’s serial number.
Overall, this is a particularly attractive example: a Jaeger-LeCoultre perpetual calendar with beautifully classical proportions, technically sophisticated yet extremely elegant and understated on the wrist. One of the most successful interpretations of the Maison’s perpetual calendar from this period.
