Galvanic dial Rolex Datejust watches have always been highly sought after by collectors. The reason is simple: they give the wearer the feeling of owning something truly special. These are among the rarest Datejust variations — the kind of watch that only an expert eye can recognize, often spotted by another collector who knows exactly what they’re looking at on someone else’s wrist. However, not all galvanic Datejusts are created equal. Many examples show damaged dials, bubbling, unnatural discolorations, or compromised finishes. The real grail for an enthusiast is finding a mirror-finished galvanic dial in impeccable condition — just like the one on this Datejust. Originally purchased new in 1965 directly from an official retailer by its first owner, this watch stands out for its exceptionally well-preserved dial: no bubbles, no scratches, no spots. Of course, it’s not factory fresh — two tritium plots show minor flaking, as is expected — but overall, it’s one of the cleanest and most well-preserved galvanic dials I’ve ever come across. Under sunlight, the printing takes on a beautiful yellow tone, the tritium plots are thick and evenly aged, and the mirrored finish is flawless. The case, although lightly refreshed over the years, remains in excellent condition — as does the folded bracelet. The movement has just been serviced by my watchmaker. All components are original and period-correct: T Swiss T dial with “door step” indexes, baton hands, white gold fluted bezel, caseback stamped “65 patented,” and a folded-link Jubilee bracelet with 55 end-links. The only updated element is the clasp, which was replaced over the years. A stunning watch — truly a jewel you can enjoy wearing every day.
