The condition of this watch is very good. The case remains in excellent shape, with the hallmark on the outer side still visible, though slightly faded. The stamp on the inner lug, however, is well-defined, confirming that the watch has not undergone aggressive polishing over the years. The oversized lugs retain their original elongated silhouette.
The P454 caliber is in excellent preservation, fully functional, and was recently serviced by an Italian watchmaker. The case back bears several watchmaker service marks, including a particularly intriguing one: a signature with the letter “M” and the inscription “NEWARK,” along with the code “I-69.” Newark is located near New York, indicating that the watch was serviced in the United States in 1969. This further corroborates the presence of the “VXC” marking on the movement, a designation exclusively applied to Vacheron Constantin calibers exported to the U.S. market.
The two-tone dial with multiple guilloché finishes exhibits some light aging, but it remains well-preserved, and once worn on the wrist, these marks are barely noticeable. All components are original and correct for the production period.
