This Blancpain is an exceptionally rare watch — one of the very few Blancpain Fifty Fathoms models with a Compressor case supplied to the Polish Navy starting in the 1970s.
On the caseback is engraved the abbreviation “MW,” short for Marynarka Wojenna, which in Polish means “Navy.” These watches were issued to the diving divisions of the Polish Navy for operational use and each bore its own inventory number.
The Compressor case version is extremely rare and seldom seen on the market; it is among the most sought-after Blancpain military watches ever produced. The present example is completely original: the case was most likely originally satin-finished but was later polished to a mirror finish.
As typical of Compressor models, the watch features two crowns — one for setting the time and the other for rotating the inner timing bezel. The overall condition is very good; being a military-issued piece, it shows signs of use consistent with its service history but no significant damage.
A truly rare timepiece, full of authenticity and character — a remarkable watch for collectors who appreciate genuine military horology and the history behind it.
