What you need to know about this watch

The Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 is one of the most representative references in Rolex production from the 1960s and 1970s. Characterized by the classic 36 mm Oyster case, Cyclops lens over the date and fluted gold bezel, it perfectly embodies the sporty elegance typical of the Datejust. The Ref. 1601 was offered in numerous dial and material configurations and is today particularly appreciated for its balance between vintage charm and excellent versatility on the wrist.

This Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 is a fine example in steel and gold, fitted with the classic two-tone Jubilee bracelet.

The overall condition is very good. The dial and hands are in excellent condition and retain their original tritium luminous material. The case and bezel are also very well preserved, with well-defined finishes and proportions consistent with the original specifications. The Jubilee bracelet is in good condition and was probably restored at some point in the past, which is entirely understandable for bracelets of this age, as after decades of use they often develop considerable stretch. The caseback screws down correctly, while the movement has recently been checked and is functioning perfectly.

The watch is completely original, with all components period-correct for the year of production.

Overall, this is a classic Datejust with timeless appeal, very attractive on the wrist and particularly suitable for everyday wear.
