Rolex Submariner 5513 Pumpkin Patina Full Set

What you need to know about this watch

The Submariner 5513 is one of the most beloved watches among vintage Rolex enthusiasts. Produced from approximately 1962 to 1989, this reference was offered in many different versions depending on the year of production. Today, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find genuine examples in excellent condition such as this one with a Serif dial.

This 5513 is preserved in exceptional condition. The case is very likely unpolished and retains the correct original proportions, with normal signs of age. The bracelet is not stretched, the movement has just been serviced by my watchmaker, and the dial is untouched, displaying a beautiful and even yellowish patina. No restoration work has been carried out on the case, bracelet, dial or hands.

There are signs of wear on the case, caseback, bracelet and bezel, but these are entirely normal for a watch of this age and are consistent with an example that was very likely never polished. All components are correct for the year of production: No Serif dial with pumpkin hour markers, Mk3 “graced” bezel insert, 9315/280 bracelet, calibre 1520, caseback stamped 5513 IV.70 and clasp dated 3.71.

What makes this 5513 even more special is the presence of its original set. In particular, it comes with the original warranty, sales invoice, Rolex wallet and original Rolex booklet. Finding a watch of this age with its original sales invoice is genuinely very rare. Note the sale date of 1976 and the price of 730 francs, showing how Submariners were far less expensive at the time and how they were not always sold immediately, in this case with a six-year gap between production and sale.

A true collector’s watch, yet still beautiful and perfectly enjoyable as an everyday piece.
